Why was 6 afraid of 7?

Because 7 ate 9! (7 8 9) *badumchhhh*

Today is the first day that I incorporated solid food into my diet. I have still been juicing as well, and sharing more of my juices with the Mister, free of charge. ;P He is very happy about this, and I’m very happy with the arrangements as well. I haven’t felt dizzy or faint all day, and I had the energy to go into town to mail a return, get some groceries, and cook dinner with Mister! I feel like a new person.

I also weighed myself first thing this morning, and I’ve lost a total of 6 lbs. over the course of my 7 day reboot! I’m pretty impressed. I don’t look or feel like I’ve lost that weight, but it’s still nice to see it on the scale! I  made another mango and orange juice for breakfast and a Not-So-Mean Green Juice. I used two mangoes and three oranges for my breakfast juice, it was perfecto! I also bought another pineapple today, so I’m looking forward to incorporating that into my juices! Yum!

I’m amazed and encouraged by the understanding and support that I’ve received about my decision. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🙂

Best Decision For Me

I’ve been praying and seriously considering adding a small light meal to my days. I’ve been doing the Juice Cleanse to improve my health, and also to lose a little weight, but losing weight wasn’t my top priority and my body has been struggling. I literally can’t get a thing done during the day my energy levels are so low. I think I would be much better off if I could keep up with exercise and still juice for 2 of my meals during the day. My biggest concern with this decision is letting people down; I don’t want anyone to think that THEY can’t do it, just because my body can’t handle it.

Some positive things that I am taking away from my experience:

1.  A new appreciation for drinking plenty of water. This is something I really struggled with before my Cleanse.

2. No longer dependent upon getting a sugar fix every day.

3. I will still be juicing for the majority of my meals for the remainder of the 30 days, and then continuing juicing after.

I don’t have any major or minor health problems to start with, but now I can rest assured that my body is getting the nutrients it needs through juicing. I have a tough time eating a handful of spinach and three kale stalks in one sitting, so discovering that I can juice them has been wonderful!

I’m so proud of the progress that everyone is making in their own Juicing Adventure!

Day 7 (Recipe)

It’s almost been a full week since I started the Juice Cleanse! I’ve had the weirdest craving to eat a whole tub of peanut butter and a whole tube of Sour Cream and Onion Pringles, it’s strange because I don’t even like Pringles! I had the hardest time falling asleep last night because of this. I Googled “Food Cravings and what they mean” but all I could find is that I need to eat more fish, nuts, and calorie rich foods. I can definitely understand the calorie rich food. I’m having a really tough time with my Juice Fast. I try to drink as much as juice as I can, but sometimes I don’t have the energy to make one. In the mean time my head is dizzy, and sometimes I see black dots. That’s my warning sign to shape up, and make a juice! As I mentioned in my post yesterday, when I drink a juice with a high fruit percentage I have a spike of energy, during this spike I’ll either try to exercise or my house is falling into chaos, so I try to clean as much as possible. Then I just want to sleep. I sit now way more than I did before, and I lounge because I have no energy.  It gets overwhelming and frustrating sometimes worrying that you’re not getting the nutrients you need, and seeing that your house is a mess but all you can do is stare at it with a blank stare.

For breakfast this morning, I made an Orange and Mango juice, which was fantastic!

  • three oranges (peeled)
  • three mangoes (peeled, pit removed)

When I made this this morning, I only used one of each, and it hardly made anything, so I’ll use three of each when I make it again. Mister and I also juiced a grapefruit + two red apples. We added unflavored seltzer water to the juice, and it was a little bitter, but refreshing. I just learned that seltzer water is nothing more than carbonized water. I have always figured it was full of terrible ingredients for you, similar to soda pop.

For lunch I made the Green Lemonade found on rebootwithjoe.com, but don’t be fooled, it doesn’t taste like lemonade whatsoever. >.< Just because something has half a lemon in it, that does not make it lemonade. It’s still just a green juice through and through, much to my disappointment. lol

Day 3

It’s Day 3 already!

Time: 11:12 –I feel like my schedule has been thrown out the window these past two days. I’m just now drinking my breakfast juice and I’ve felt like I was going to pass out all morning. I have two cats, one is really still a kitten, but the older of the two is ‘in heat’ for the first time, and good grief, she has kept us up all night, for two nights in a row, with her howling! I told my husband, “Either I’m going to kill her or lock her outside.” I did neither, of course. It was just incredibly frustrating. As a result, I’ve been waking up around 8:00/8:30, which is 2 hours off schedule! I’ve also been trying to make the days worth of juices first thing in the morning, but I just don’t think it’s going to work. At least not until I start feeling more energy from juicing. I am just so burned out. I need to make my breakfast juice and then drink my breakfast juice, for a couple days at least. If you have to travel for work in the morning and therefore have to make all your juices in the morning, I am so sorry. You are amazing in my eyes!

For my breakfast juice I am drinking My Glass is Greener, it’s pretty sweet, so I may add less pineapple and more green veggies the next time I make it. It is delicious though, don’t get me wrong. I just feel guilty drinking it because it’s so sweet. Does that make sense? lol

You know what amazes me? How do dirty dishes pile up so fast?? Every time I turn around there’s a stack of dishes needing to washed! Thankfully, we have a dishwasher, her name is Lauren. lol

Mister and I have another dinner to go to tonight. We started watching a marriage video with follow up discussion questions with another couple that we’re really close with. It’s been really nice. We alternate each week going from one house to the other, and making dinner for everyone then starting the video! I reminded my friend that I was on my Juice Cleanse and she completely understood, in fact she wishes she could only drink juice. Her family is bone thin though, and they eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, so I think it may actually be the death of them if they tried the Juice Cleanse.

My paper straw is getting soggy in my juice, I should focus on drinking it! lol

Time: 10:06 – Well, I’m already half an hour past my desired bedtime. But I recently got home from dinner at a friend’s house, where they had pasta with spaghetti sauce and it smelled sooooo good! I promised myself I would have a big ol’ plate of pasta when I was done with my fast, and then reminded myself that it’s eating habits like that, that got me here in the first place. Grrrr! Now my sweet Mister is popping himself some popcorn, which is one of my all time favorite snacks! He’s so thoughtful. >.< We pop our own in a cast iron dutch oven in a little bit of organic virgin coconut oil. It is heavenly! Then sprinkle on a little bit of sea salt and badaboom-badabing! We’re popcorn hobo’s, because we can eat a ho-bo (whole bowl). If you say it right it’s funny. But over a blog it doesn’t come across the same… I wasn’t even hungry, for a change, until I smelled the popcorn. I wish I could juice the taste of bowl of popcorn. Yum?

I can’t wait until he’s done eating, then I’m going to bed, and I’m sleeping with earplugs tonight so that I don’t have to hear that darn cat! >.<

So it’s almost 5:30pm here and all I want to do is eat a cheeseburger, take a 30 day long nap and wake up 20 lbs lighter at the end of it! lol

Wishful thinking… >.<

I do feel absolutely drained and exhausted today. Having stayed up late last night, gotten up early, done an hour of cardio this morning, and grocery shopped, my body is beet! I mean beat.*  I also didn’t like the Carbeeple Juice so I haven’t been drinking as much today as I should be, and I’m off schedule in that I’m waiting to drink my dinner juice later than planned.

It is amazing though, I never realized how much I would miss solid food, and the simple act of chewing. I’ve been clenching my jaw all day and now my teeth ache because of it! *Grumble grumble grumble*

I’ll try not to bellyache too much though. lol I’m just keeping it real. Everyone that has done juicing before says that the first few days are the hardest! So let’s stay strong and stick with it!

If only I didn’t have a pecan pie baking in the oven for a dinner party tonight, I think it’d be easier to stay strong… lol My whole house smells like comfort and temptation.

But I’m armed with my Not-so-Mean Green Juice for tonight’s dinner, so I’m prepared, because let me tell you it is delicious! It’s my favorite Green Recipe so far! I actually wouldn’t change a thing about it. So that’s got to say something for it!

It is now about 9:45 and while my body is definitely tired, I no longer feel hungry. It made a world of difference to drink my dinner juice. It sure was hard to just drink my juice this evening though when I had a spread of food before me. Stuffed shells… bread… salad… corn… pecan pie… ice cream… Lordy, it looked and smelled soooo good. But I just patiently drank my juice, and enjoyed the company.

I actually started to prefer my juice over the thought of a slice of pecan pie. I just remembered how sweet it had been when I’d made it before, and the thought was strangle unpleasant. That means a lot coming from me! I used to be a homemade cookie every time I went grocery shopping to the Coop a couple towns over. Earlier today, when I was there I desperately wanted one, but I just got what I needed and got out! Now this evening, I could careless about them! Strange how our bodies work and react.

I had mentioned in my post about this morning that I had done an hours worth of cardio, well it’s been brought to my attention that I am pushing my body too hard when this is a time when it’s trying to heal itself. So I’ll definitely dial that back to half and hour, max. I noticed in my goals that I have listed to do half an hour exercise each day, so I’m not sure why I thought I had said one hour…

But anywho… so a quick moment of life’s reality: this juicing is making me so gassy! lol. Ok, that’s all. 😛

I can’t wait to go to bed tonight! I haven’t been meeting my bedtime schedule, so I’ll have to work on that. Six o’clock comes around real quick!

Tomorrow begins Day Two! Good night for now!

… and so it begins! (Pro Tips. lol)

Well, today is the day it all starts! I made a last hoorah dinner last night, and this morning I’m drinking my favorite breakfast juice so far (Blueberries for Breakfast). This way I can start the whole Adventure on a positive note! ;D

I almost threw all  my goals out of whack this morning. I stayed up much later than I had planned last night, and when the 6 o’clock alarm went off this morning I said to Mister, “I can’t get up… Reset the alarm for 8.” But then I lay there thinking, “I have to get up. I have to get up right now. I want change in my life, so I have to be that change. I will myself to get out of bed!” Then I hopped right up and started my day! I made my breakfast juice and my lunch and snack juice. Some how I managed to be all out of kale, so I wasn’t able to make my lunch and dinner juice. I’m making one juice be my First Snack and my Lunch juices, and then after I do some grocery shopping, I’ll make a Second Snack and Dinner juice. It wont be the same, but you’ve got to be flexible with your meal planning. I’m learning that on day one! lol

I had the most food desired dream last, I kept taking bites of people food and then reprimanding myself and spitting it out. It was so strange. I hadn’t even started Juice Only yet! I can tell this is going to be a tough journey!

Things I learned this morning:

Don’t wear a white shirt while making juices.

Don’t watch a short funny movie clip at any time while drinking your juice, or you’ll inhale it, burp, gag, and choke until tears stream down your face.

Don’t drink 20 oz. of juice within 10 min. It’ll upset your tummy.

 

I love modern day refrigeration

After washing the dishes, and drinking most of my juice this morning, I decided I should really organize my fridge. It gets kind of hard to find stuff in there when you have a bunch of stuff and it’s all in produce bags. All you see is a wall of plastic when you look in my fridge. But not anymore!

Ok, ok, so it doesn’t look much better, but believe me, it is a lot easier for me to find stuff now without having to dig around.

Would you believe, we’re two people and we buy our maple syrup by the gallon? I’m pretty sure if you were to cut me open, you’d find maple syrup running through my veins.

Mister isn’t doing a Juice Only Fast with me, so I still have to feed him, that’s why there’s meat, eggs, and milk in the fridge.

Knock on the door

Fedex just delivered my juicer, and a whole day early too! I wasn’t expecting it until tomorrow. I’m running in to town now to buy some stuff to juice. Over this weekend I’m going to incorporate juices into my diet to start as a “Phase in” but come Monday I’m switching to strictly juice. Here I go, ready or not!

Chunk of Change

I just ordered my juicer on Amazon.com!

I tend to drag my feet when it comes to making expensive purchases. I hate spending money, but my husband told me to go ahead and order it already! I told him, “Listen, Mister, I’ll order it when I’m good and ready to order it!” and then I ordered it. I always have to close my eyes when I press the Place Order button.

But I don’t have instant buyer’s remorse with this decision, in fact, I can’t wait to receive it in the mail and begin juicing!

I did a lot of research before my purchase on the best kinds and brands, I read reviews on Amazon, I searched within a realistic price budget, and I finally decided on the Breville BJE510XL.

I’ll be sure to give it my own person review once I receive it.

It should be here on Friday! My husband and I are Amazon Prime members, and I highly recommend it! It’s something like $79 a year, but you can instantly stream sooo many movies, and you get Free Two Day Shipping (it’s technically not “free” because you’re paying an annual fee for it). So if you order a lot through Amazon, which we do since we live in the sticks, it’s definitely worth it.
